Authentic pair of antique ironstone rimmed soup bowls by T. Furnival & Sons, Staffordshire, England, circa 1876–1890. The Ceylon pattern features hand-painted polychrome enamels—vibrant green geometric stars, pink blossoms, and an orientalist center with weeping willow, floral urn, and garden fence—set against transferware underglaze and gilt-edged geometric rim borders. Both bowls bear crisp underglaze black manufacturer's mark (Garter/Belt backstamp with "T. Furnival & Sons" and "Ceylon") and impressed factory stamp (T+F), plus hand-painted artisan numbers.
Approx. size: ~10 in diameter, ~2.75 in deep.
Condition: Both bowls show light wear consistent with age and use—minor wear to gilt rim edges, minor scattered surface marks, and faint crazing typical of Victorian ironstone. Sold as found — please see all photos.
