How it Began

Monica & Gary tell it —

It started on New Year's Eve, 2012. We were home talking about the year ahead, and we decided to find a hobby we could work on together — something that brought in a little extra and got us out on the hunt. We'd refinished a piece of furniture together once, before we were even married, and it didn't break us up 😂, so we figured, let's give it another try.

On New Year's Day we took our very first picking trip. Back then we sold on Craigslist and eBay — loading pieces into the car, meeting buyers in a ballfield parking lot, sitting and waiting, half the time for folks who never showed. We made friends with the owner of a little thrift shop who revived our love of thrifting, and by that April we'd opened our first vendor booth. For four years, refinishing and thrifting and reselling filled our time and our hearts.

Then in 2016, the owner of Main Street Antiques — where we already kept a booth — decided to sell. We talked, and prayed, and prayed some more, and finally agreed it was a no-brainer. On New Year's Day 2017, we bought the shop.
